Inköpt i Göteborg i början av 1960-talet.

I slutet av 1940-talet visade Svensk-Franska Konstgalleriet i Stockholm på sina vintersalonger 1946-47 och 1949 övervägande blomstermotiv, jämför bl a "Blommande hagtorn", avbildad i Nils Ryndels bok om Inge Schiöler sid 120. Ryndel skriver om denna period "ofta från denna tid får bilderna ett drag av ostasiatisk poesi". Inge Schiöler tolkar det japanska perspektivet på sitt eget sätt vilket den aktuella målningen "Blommande kvistar" utgör ett bra exempel på.
